How much can you save on solar?

There are a lot of false or deceiving facts in advertising on solar. It is easy to see why people get turned off by them. I have had an actual home in Maine with solar for well over a decade. My system has long since paid itself off. For a typical home that is grid-tied and only has solar, the payback can be from 7-11 years. The systems are typically warranty for 25 years (except inverters). So over the lifetime of the warranty life, your return on investment is about 12% or more. This a about double the stock market mutual funds rate! As you can see, it is a great investment financially. The real kicker is this, you can expect the panels, racking, and wiring to last well past 25 years. Most panels only slightly degrade over an extended time, so the investment gets even better past the 25-year mark. There are panels still producing electricity at 35+ years.
