Testing solar panels
17/03/25 10:17
Sometimes, we have to test solar panels to determine if their output is correct compared to their specifications. Also, we test optimizers to see if they are working correctly. This is done with 2 meters that measure voltage, current, and resistance. We do this on the panel in full sunlight, and then on the optimizer. Though both are warrantied for 25 years, there are failures on occasion. As with any electronic item. As long as there was no physical damage to the solar panel, it is more likely the optimizer that has failed. This was the case with the one tested this week. An easy fix that is under warranty.
This is a specialized electric meter that measures solar panel health. These are tools that we can use to diagnose any issues over the 45 years you can own your system. Yes, panels can last that long!
